In the new age of electronics, sometimes things seem to break, just because. Unfortunately, we have become such a disposable society that people tend to think replacement rather than repair. Manufacturers seem to have developed the same mentality. The camera companies have made the cost of repair so prohibitive that replacement makes sense on the small compact digital cameras because of the rapid advancement in technology and falling prices. However, the same does not apply to single-lens reflex cameras and accessories. Currently, there are no in-house repair service centers in the New Orleans area for camera equipment. If you have equipment that is not operating properly, we can help. The solution sometimes can be as simple as replacing the battery. Other times, a simple adjustment to a metering pin can have you back out shooting in no time. When the problem extends to more serious issues, we will let you know. What can be done depends on what type of equipment you have.
Film Cameras and Equipment Most of the manufacturers no longer service their older film equipment. If you need service, bring your equipment in and we will advise you whether the item is worth repairing. There are several Authorized Service Centers in the US that we work with to provide you with quality repairs. We are usually able to provide an estimate of the costs before the equipment is ever shipped. Should the repair cost be more than first estimated, you will be contacted before any repairs are done.

Digital Cameras and Equipment
We have repair service accounts with most of the major camera equipment manufacturers, including Canon, Olympus, Nikon and Sigma. We recommend having us send your equipment to the manufacturer when possible. All the manufacturers do provide warranty service through us. For other manufacturer's equipment, we can also work with the Authorized Service Centers. Most DSLR's are worth repairing, but the majority of compact digital cameras are better off replaced (like cell phones). If the item is not under warranty, the manufacturer will inspect the equipment and provide and estimate before any work is done.
Should you wish to not have the equipment repaired, your only cost is for the shipping. We package and insure all items and we use FedEx ground for all our shipping. Should you need the equipment expedited, that is available at additional cost.
Digital SLR Sensor Cleaning Service
If you have noticed dark specks on your digital images, especially in bright areas like sky, you may have dust on your sensor. This can occur from turning on the camera without a lens attached, or removing the lens while the camera is powered on. A CCD sensor is "charged" when the camera is turned on, which tends to attract dust. Many of the newer Digital SLR's have built in Dust Removal, but sometimes its not enough. While there are some inexpensive options available, sometimes the only solution is to have the sensor professionally cleaned. We now offer a flat rate sensor cleaning service. Unlike places that attempt to do it in-house, we will send your camera to a manufacturer-authorized repair facility. The cost is $89.99 + tax. Shipping is included. Turnaround averages about 7-9 working days. For a $20 additional fee, we can expedite the shipping and have the camera back in 4-5 working days. This service is available for most digital SLR models.
