Welcome to our newly redesigned student section. If this is your first time here, please take a moment to read this, so that you will have a better understanding of what you can find here. For our returning students, welcome back!
Our goal here at Moldaner's is to be the one source for film and darkroom supplies for students in the South Louisiana/Mississippi area. With the growth of digital, traditional black and white photography has become a niche market, and most dealers have given it up as not worth the effort. However, as long as people support us, we will make every effort to continue offering film, chemistry, black and white photographic paper and darkroom supplies.
One note before we get started: Please try to bring a copy of your supply list and notes with you when you come. We have had problems in the past with students purchasing the wrong photo paper for class. It's important that you are aware sensitized materials like film and photographic paper CAN NOT be returned for credit. We will do everything possible to assist you in making the proper selection, but we are not responsible for mistakenly purchased items.
We have divided the Student Section of our site into five main areas: Latest News, Class Info, Pricing, Used Equipment, and Videos.
LATEST NEWS: This is where we will keep you updated on time sensitive information, such as price increases, product delivery issues, stock availability, new items and the like. If you are planning to visit us, always check this area to make sure we have what you need in stock before you make the trip.
CLASS INFO: This section is where we try and compile a list of all the darkroom photography courses at the local area colleges. We try to include the professor's name, the class title and section, and the syllabus/supply list whenever possible. We attempt to update these every semester, so if you notice your class doesn't have a supply list online, you can help by allowing us to photocopy yours.
PRICING: As the name implies, this section has current pricing on the items most requested. Students get a 15% discount off their supplies and camera accessories such as straps, batteries, cases and filters. Because we don't have a supply list from every teacher, there may be items on your list that aren't included on here. Don't worry, you'll still get the discount. In addition, students also get 15% off any printing or scanning services we offer. This list is password-protected, so make sure you get the information from your teacher or us.
USED EQUIPMENT: It is getting more difficult to find manual 35mm film cameras. However, we do our best to acquire some every semester. You can check here to see what we currently have available. We also occasionally get extra lenses and flashes that are available at extremely reasonable prices.
VIDEOS: Our newest department, we have compiled a selection of instructional videos that you may find helpful. You could probably find them yourself, but hopefully this will help. There are videos on loading a film camera, loading a darkroom reel and others like this. If you happened to miss class, or just need a reminder, you may find these helpful.
